Empowering Women
in Sports Media

Bridging the gender gap through education and empowerment

ABOUT
MAKING THE CALL

Making The Call is committed to ensuring that women and gender-diverse people have an equal share of voice in sports media.

Through targeted programs and initiatives with a proven track record, we’re helping shape a more inclusive industry, one where our graduates are now working across all areas of sports media, from grassroots coverage to elite competitions.

Founded in 2020 by sisters Emma Race and Lucy Race, Making The Call is both a disruptor and a driving force behind the scenes. We’re breaking down barriers and building pathways for the next generation of diverse voices in sport.

Meet the Team

Making The Call is where bold voices find their home and fresh talent finds its wings.  We’re the cheerleaders, the disruptors, the behind-the-scenes magic-makers opening doors for women and gender-diverse people in sports media.

Whether it’s guiding the next generation, connecting game-changers with the industry, or shaking up the status quo, we’re here to make an impact—loudly, proudly, and with a whole lot of heart.

We believe in the power of storytelling, the thrill of the game, and the art of making space for voices that need to be heard. Inclusive, curious, and always creative, we’re more than a pathway—we’re a movement. If you’re ready to make the call, how can we help you?

I participated in Making the Call in the very first intake, which feels like forever ago but it has been instrumental in propelling me from a part-time football commentator to someone who is now able to work full-time in sports media and broadcasting.
