Making the Call was established in August 2020 with the single objective of increasing the number of women working in sports media in Australia.
The key driver for its conception was our deep understanding of the barriers unique to women in sports media.

Outcomes
Since 2020, over 150 graduates have completed our programs and are now shaping the future of sports storytelling across Australia as presenters, reporters, producers, and analysts.
Every participant becomes part of the Making The Call community, a supportive network offering mentoring, skill development, and direct industry connections long after the program ends.

Both founders of Making The Call, Emma Race and Lucy Race, are available to speak on panels or collaborate on your media project as producers or content consultants.
Emma Race is an experienced MC and event host who brings energy, professionalism and heart to every stage she steps onto. She has hosted events of all sizes - from the local football club to a 4,000-strong audience at Crown. Emma has partnered with organisations including the AFL, Hawthorn Football Club, The Essendon Women’s Network, UDIA and Marriott Hotels. Her ability to connect with audiences, no matter the scale or setting, makes her a trusted and engaging presence for any occasion.
Lucy Race is a skilled facilitator and host, with experience leading book launches, panel conversations and community events. She brings warmth, curiosity and professionalism to every role.
Emma and Lucy have also produced, hosted and appeared as guests on a wide range of podcasts. They understand what it takes to create compelling, thoughtful and entertaining audio content - from concept development through to production and delivery.
Beyond podcasts, they have consulted on a variety of media projects, helping organisations shape ideas, refine storytelling and engage audiences effectively. As consultants, they can support organisations to build shows, develop content strategies and reach audiences with impact.
Recent projects include Play Big on Broad Radio, alongside many other collaborations across the media landscape.
