ABOUT US

The participation rates of women and girls in sport are rising rapidly. Our Australian women’s national teams are excelling on the world stage and garnering incredible audiences. Yet sports media is still dominated by male voices.

Redressing the gender imbalance in sports broadcasting is vital to the engagement of audiences, to helping fans connect with the sports they love and those they are yet to discover, and to improving the sporting experience of fans and participants alike.

Making the Call was established in August 2020 with the single objective of increasing the number of women working in sports media in Australia. The key driver for its conception was our deep understanding of the barriers unique to women in sports media. Founders, Emma Race and Lucy Race, are leaders in the intersection of sports media and gender equity.
